Sergey Litvinenko, a Ukrainian national, has been extradited to the US where he faces charges related to fraud and cybercrime. The suspect was arrested in August 2012 in Croatia.

According to Dalje.com, the extradition process took so long because Litvinenko did everything he could to avoid being handed over to US authorities. More precisely, he used all the legal means available to him.

US officials from the embassy in Zagreb have told the press that the Ukrainian is wanted for his alleged role in an international online scheme. However, they refused to go into detail.

The US Secret Service attempted to locate Litvinenko in Ukraine. However, after learning that he was about to go to Croatia, US authorities collaborated with Croatian police to make sure the suspect would be detained when he entered the country.
