Following the Megaupload closure, law enforcement agencies worldwide have begun following on the footsteps of US agencies, shutting down websites that were considered to store or share copyrighted materials.

According to Kyiv Post, on January 31, Ukrainian police terminated the activity of a popular file hosting service called ex.ua after companies such as Adobe, Graphisoft and even Microsoft, which later denied having any implications, filed complaints against their activities.

Unlike the Megaupload case, Ukrainian police didn’t arrest any of the company’s employees, instead they were all interrogated.

As a result of raids conducted at the firm’s offices and datacenters, 200 servers, storing a total of 6,000 terabytes of information, were seized.

Ukrainian Interior Ministry representatives stated in a press conference that no one should be surprised that the file-sharing website was shut down since they were being investigated for half a year for allegedly illegal actions.
