Actor Michael Brea gives first interview detailing how he murdered his mother: “I killed the demon inside her”

Earlier this week, news broke that an actor who’d once appeared on “Ugly Betty” had killed his mother by beheading her with a samurai sword. Now locked in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, Michael Brea speaks of the gruesome murder, saying it was an act of God.

While parts of the initial report were not accurate (the murder weapon was not a samurai sword, but a sword nonetheless), the bit about this being a religious murder was.

Brea’s neighbors told police and the media that they had heard the actor screaming to his mother to “Repent!” as he was killing her, while also saying something about the “Grand Architect of the Universe” when police took him away.

In a chilling interview with the New York Daily News, Brea explains why he killed his mom, goes into detail of how the murder happened and, perhaps more chilling of all, shows absolutely no sign of remorse, saying it was something that simply had to be done.

“I didn’t kill her. I killed the demon inside her,” Brea tells the reporter. When he’s told that his mother is dead, he cold-heartedly adds, “So be it. It was the work of God.”

Shortly before he lashed out at his mother with a sword, Brea got a visit from God, he says, in which he was told of the mission ahead of him.

“I was sleeping in my bedroom. God came above my bed and reached his arm to me. I said, ‘God, is my time on earth over?’ I heard a voice say, ‘Yes Michael, today is your last day.’ I asked if I could say goodbye to my family,” the actor explains.

Hours later, he went to church, to the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem, of which he’d become a member just one week earlier. There, a strange man tried to put a curse on him, Brea recalls.

On his way home, he started to get all kinds of signs that his mom was actually a demon who had to be dealt with accordingly.

“I felt like Neo from The Matrix,” Brea says of his journey back on Brooklyn by train. “I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign,” he adds.

He got home, hugged his mother (“I knew I would never see my mother again”) and went to his room. At one point, his mother came in asking for some help into the chicken, which is when he attacked her because, he claims, he was speaking in a demon voice.

“She had the voice of the demon. I opened the door with the dagger at my side and the sword. I asked, ‘Do you believe in God?’ She said, ‘No, Michael no,’ and began screaming. I began slashing her like this,” Brea tells the reporter, swinging her hand in a motion meant to describe how he hit his mother.

Police say he chased her throughout the entire house, hitting her repeatedly with force – but not forcefully enough to kill her on the spot.

“I didn’t want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God,” Brea adds. For the rest of the chilling interview, please refer here.
