The Ubuntu CE Team has just announced the release of the Ubuntu Christian Edition 3.2 (Feisty). This release fixes one potentially serious bug in the IEs4Linux Installer. The IEs4Linux Installer was deleting the bin folder that it created from the users' home directory during the "clean up" process. This would only be a problem if the user had a bin folder in their home directory prior to running the IEs4Linux Installer.

According to the Ubuntu CE team, this release also marks the end of the Ubuntu CE Installer. The Ubuntu CE Installer is currently used for allowing the users an easy way of adding additional Christian and Educational programs to Ubuntu CE. But, because of some issues with the Ichthux install option, the team decided to drop this feature. Instead they've launched an Ubuntu CE Documentation Wiki in order to create the documentation for adding new programs and features to Ubuntu CE.

This 3.2 version comes after a previous 3.1 maintenance release, which aimed at fixing some other minor few bugs. The bug fixes in the 3.1 release were mostly reported by the Ubuntu CE users. Among the bug-fixes there were: fixed suspend/hibernate, fixed dansguardian proxy issues, fixed Ubuntu CE Installer appending wrong sources. The developer team recommended the users to use the convert_me script in order to update their existing Ubuntu CE version. The convert_me script itself has also benefited then of some enhancements, such as a no longer separate script for "conversion" and "upgrading". There were also some additional error dialogs and messages added to make the updating process go more smoothly.

The Ubuntu CE 3.0 release brought a major change to the previous versions as it was based directly on Feisty Fawn (Ubuntu 7.04), but it also added some new exciting features. The first new added feature, which can be easily noticed as it appears on the desktop, would be the Daily Bible Verse. This new addition uses gDesklets and Bible RSS desklet, built exclusively for Ubuntu CE. As any new distribution, Ubuntu CE 3.0 benefited of some new themes and all graphics were updated as well as the convert_me script, which provided a better theme integration. The Word program features the e-Sword Installer, which was quite popular among the CE users, while Firefox received a new look straight from the developer of Bible Fox theme, who has joined the Ubuntu CE Team.
