Nintendo needs to find a way to generate sales at Christmas

Video game publisher Ubisoft says that, while it is willing to support the Wii U home console from Nintendo for this Christmas season, it might abandon its stance early in 2014, when a review process is set to take place.

Yves Guillemot, the chief executive officer of the company, tells GamesIndustry.biz that “We will continue to support the Wii U this Christmas, and we're expecting it to take off in terms of sales. And we'll review what happened again at the beginning of next year.”

The Wii U has failed to generate the sales that Nintendo was counting on.

Electronic Arts has already made it clear that it has no plans to release future titles on the device.

A Wii U price cut is rumored to be planned for the fall of this year.
