The development team at Ubisoft working on the Crew might have been forced to deal with a substantial delay for its racing game, but it seems that the time was well used and they have long-term plans for the experience, which include new content drops delivered as fast as they can be created.

Ahmed Boukhelifa, a producer working on the racing experience, tells VG247 that the company wants to make sure that the player who buys the title has access to a wide range of choices when it comes to the events he attends and the kinds of cars that he collects.

He states, “We have a development plan for the game that goes on for years, so it was all about defining what is the content that we need to get the players engaged and to the point where they are satisfied and happy to pour 20, 40 or 60 hours in to the game as it stands at launch.”

The Crew will allow gamers to select their favorite vehicles, choose a group of other players to run around with, customize their cars and then explore the virtual expanses of North America.

Ubisoft has promised that it will deliver inner city races, off-road events and even some contests that take gamers across the entire country in endurance races that take hours to complete and are designed for the most hardcore of fans.

Ahmed Boukhelifa adds, “We’re also looking at adding 20 additional hours of content every few weeks with new missions and it’s really on this part of things that we’ve used that additional time to work on. You have to take the time when you’re launching an online game against competitors; it’s vital that you have established quality content for that post-launch window.”

The Crew will be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC at some point in the fall, with a clear date set to be offered later in the coming months.

Gamers can choose to pre-order two versions of the game at the moment, which offer access to a variety of cars and 10,000 in-game credits for those who are willing to pay early.

At the same time, Ubisoft plans to launch a new set of challenges for fans of The Crew, that will offer all those who spot Golden Licenses a chance to win a series of prizes.
