Assassin's Creed was one of the biggest titles of 2007, having managed to reveal to players a rich and complex world where assassins and thieves could keep the world order and prevent anyone from obtaining too much power.

With the first title having registered decent sales and gained a big fan base, Ubisoft decided that there was a lot of potential in the franchise and, as such, it is preparing two new titles for the end of this year. The first, a fully-fledged sequel with a new assassin and setting, Assassin's Creed 2, will be launched this fall. Alongside this release for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the French publisher will also bring Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, a special PlayStation Portable exclusive game that will offer a conclusion to the events in the first title.

But it seems that after these two releases hit at the end of the year, 2010 will also have some Assassin's Creed content, as, during a conference call, the CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, teased everyone by saying that the franchise would receive a few new additions in its next fiscal year.

“We have a very good lineup for next year,” Guillemot said. “We have lots of products that are coming from the brands we own. You will see lots of follow-ups to the brands that are already established. We think you will also be able to see some elements concerning the Assassin's Creed license.”

Overall, considering how rich and varied the universe of Assassin's Creed is, Ubisoft definitely has a lot of material to work with and will certainly try to take it in a new direction. Hopefully this will mean other high-quality products in order for fans to not get bored with the series. Until 2010 though, we'll just have to wait and see.
