The current arc of the Assassin’s Creed series is set to be completed this fall and the leading narrative creator at Ubisoft believes that fans will be satisfied with how the story will wrap up and will not feel cheated in any way.

Corey May, who is the lead writer working on Assassin’s Creed III, stated, “The ending should not come out of nowhere. You will not wake up and find that you were in an Animus reliving the life of someone who was in an Animus. We are not doing that. It was not all just a dream.”

He added, “I think people that have invested in the Desmond storyline will understand where the end of the game comes from. We’re tying up loose ends and providing answers and resolution to things. You’re not going to get another tremendous insane-o cliffhanger.”

The Assassin’s Creed series first started with an emphasis on action adventure mechanics and unique character stories, but the focus has since shifted towards a deeper story that involves supernatural forces and even aliens.

Some disgruntled fans believe that there’s no way of bringing all the narrative threads together in Assassin’s Creed III, but Ubisoft says that the team has had a master plan in place for the series since the first game was launched.

The new Assassin’s Creed game moves the action to the time of the American Revolutionary War and introduces a new main character, Connor, who will be able to also explore wilderness areas in addition to urban ones.

Assassin’s Creed III will be launched on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on October 30 in the United States and one day later in Europe.

The Wii U version of the game will be introduced when the new Nintendo home console is launched during November and Ubisoft is also planning a PC port that will arrive later during the month.
