Ubisoft is going a little overboard with game promotion

If you’re a gaming fan, you probably know Ubisoft is currently launching Watch Dogs across current-gen and next-gen consoles, as well as PC, next month.

To promote the title, Ubisoft has entered a real promotional frenzy, with the gaming company holding press events to show the game off to journalists.

But those lucky enough to attend one such event held last week in Paris got quite a puzzling surprise. Ubisoft decided to offer Nexus 7 tablets to everybody who turned up at the event, reports EscapistMagazine. Why did the company decide to that to?

Ubisoft hasn't provided an official motivation for its action, but most journalists present at the event, who received a Nexus 7 tablet, said the tablet would probably go to charity.

Keeping the device might prompt speculation that Ubisoft was trying to bribe the press with Nexus 7 tablets in order to get good reviews for the game.

However, a logical explanation might be provided. For example, Ubisoft might be trying to give people a chance to test the game’s tablet integration, but this is mere speculation at this point.

Sure, companies tend to award their event attendees with goodie bags, but offering such an expensive gift is bound to raise a lot of questions marks.
