Digit Wireless has announced that UTStarcom has adopted its technology in order to develop and market mobile phones that are easy-to-use and feature Fastap.

The newest among UTStarcom Personal Communication's line-up will be a sleek and quite slim mobile phone that doesn't compromise at all when it comes to design. On top of that, its key feature, Fastap technology, will simplify the mobile user's experience with easy recovery, access and use of messaging (text and picture) as well as mobile data services.

Users will no longer have to multi-tap text into their devices with the simple and intuitive alphanumeric keypad that allows them to enter text in nine different languages (including Spanish, English and Portuguese). Through the Fastap keypad's one-touch capability, users will also be able to instantly access applications (with M for Messaging, C for Camera or P for Phonebook), and directly access frequently used phone features and services by pressing just one key.

The GSFT799 was designed to make mobile life simpler, regardless of whether the user wants to send a message, search the web or access an application. Its size is also an advantage, as the phone measures 96.5 x 49.5 x 15.4 mm and weighs as little as 76 grams.

The owner of the UTStarcom GSFT779 will get all the functionality they need all packed up in a rather pocket-friendly clamshell phone. Since its design is not at all bad either, it'll be a good choice for people that want a stylish handset as well. GSFT779 will become available to mobile operators throughout South and Central America throughout the second half of this year

"The GSFT779 featuring Fastap is another example of UTStarcom's dedication to developing innovative mobile devices that are fashionable, affordably priced and simple-to-use," said Louis Antoniou, vice president of international sales at UTStarcom Personal Communications Division. "Our mobile operator customers and their consumers are demanding easier-to-use mobile phones providing easier access to and use of mobile data services and messaging. UTStarcom is delivering."
