Mac users who think Time Machine and Time Capsule are not a good enough backup solution should take a look at Digitus' USB to Serial ATA (SATA) adapter. This small piece of hardware, developed especially for use under Mac OS X, lets users instantly back up their hard drive (or a specified portion) at the push of a button, namely, the one situated on the device.

This one-button backup solution from Digitus costs just ?14.90 ($23.40). After installing the software found on the USB to SATA adapter, users simply connect the device to one of their Mac's USB ports and press the only button available on it to start the backup process. Don't worry, according to the makers, you will be prompted to specify whether you want an entire volume backed up, or mere portions of it. The device will detect both SATA and SATA II hard disks connected to the external port.

The included software runs on Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, which makes pretty much every Mac user alive eligible to use the device.

Although it looks like a USB thumbdrive, the adapter sports an external SATA (eSATA) connection on one end.

Digitus claims it places particular importance on high environmental compatibility. The new standard DIN EN ISO 14001 is particularly emphasized within the company's products, according to their website, while a "sophisticated outer packaging system prevents any transport damage". The company also claims it has invested over ? 2.5 million in the areas of warehousing, logistics and packaging, while its products can be found in outlets in over 20 countries.

Speaking of which, Digitus does Active and Passive Network Components, Datacom and KVM Switches, USB + Firewire Products, Cables / Adaptors & Plugs and Peripherals & Accessories for Notebooks and PDAs.
