It really seems that there are plenty of iPhone or iPad users out there who're quite keen on adding USB and HDMI connectivity options to their iOS devices, and in order to cater to the needs of this particular user category, the Japanese company Hanwa has recently released their UMA-iOSHDMI adapter.

According to Hanwa, what we're talking about here is a USB/HDMI adapter that connects to the Apple universal connector found at the bottom of the aforementioned devices from Apple and grants them an extra level of functionality.

Designed to work quite well with the iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, the new Hanwa adapter will allow users to output 720p-grade videos from their iOS devices to their HDTVs, via a suitable HDMI cable, given the fact that the adapter only supports a maximum bandwidth of 5.7Gbps and a 60Hz vertical synchronization.

Additionally, as mentioned before, this thing also offers a USB function, although not exactly in a traditional way.

So, when switching to the USB mode, the device will enable the iPad's or iPhone 4's internal memory to act as some sort of USB mass storage memory module for digital cameras, letting users transfer photos in a very fast and easy manner.

Plus, even after attaching the adapter to one's iPhone or iPad, the respective gadget's size shouldn't be too seriously affected, given the fact that, after all, this thing only measures 63 x 38 x 14 mm and weighs roughly 19 grams.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll also have to point out that the UMA-iOSHDMI adapter from Hanwa sells for 5,980 yen in Japan (the equivalent of around 73 US dollars), which is not exactly a very small price to pay for a simple adapter, but, then again, we must not forget that just about any product even remotely related to Apple tends to be slightly overpriced.
