Doubling as data transfer cables

Yes, it's true! You can now look your friends straight in the eyes because they won't brag again about their iPod being capable of charging directly from their personal computer's USB port.

Your Nokia phone has just gotten a little bit smarter due to a new solution developed by the Finnish phone manufacturer which will allow any Nokia cellphone user out there to charge his/her handset without having to use the special designed charger.

Some of you won't get the idea behind this and some of you might think about the rumors that say devices charging from the USB ports of computers don't get a fully charged battery this way but, and I must say it, we should give the guys from Nokia some credit for taking a weight off our shoulders because even if the idea behind this type of battery recharge isn't new at all, there are a lot of people out there that wanted such a feature on their Nokia mobile phones for a long time.

Even if they didn't want such a thing for shear functionality, they could go for the bragging about it side like the guys owning iPods or Palm PDA's often do.

The two devices behind this new technology (for Nokia) are the CA-100 charging connectivity cable which is compatible with the 2.0 mm charger connector and the CA-70 USB port enabled charger compatible with the 3.5 mm connectors.

There are sideways to this and you should know about it if you haven't already figured them out. If you decide to charge your phone from your laptop's USB port don't be surprised if your battery will last a lot less than ever before.

Also, be sure your computer will not enter in a stand-by or hibernation mode during the charge because, as the Nokia manuals say, the charging may stop.

And for the artist in you, painting your newly bought USB charger device may prevent its proper operation so find yourself a nice and white sheet of paper to do your graffiti art because the Nokia USB charger doesn't really go for that :).
