After numerous accusations made by both China and the US (but mostly the US), the two countries appear to have come to an agreement when it comes to safeguarding cyberspace. A cyber security working group will be set up to address current issues.

According to Xinhua, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for a collaboration between the two nations during a visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry.

During their meeting, Wang once again said that his country was against any form of cyberattacks, highlighting the fact that the US and China could enhance mutual trust and boost cooperation in this field.

Kerry has emphasized the fact that cyber security affects every sector, so immediate action is needed.

China has often been named as being responsible for cyber espionage campaigns, but the accusations intensified earlier this year after several major US media companies reported being hit by Chinese hackers.

Things got even more serious after security firm Mandiant released a report on the inner workings of a military-funded Chinese hacker unit.
