So the PS3 is getting back on its feet after all. What did I tell you? Don't answer that. Well known and quite respected US based sales tracking firm, NPD says that Sony's next gen console released yesterday throughout the PAL territories, is slightly above Microsoft's Xbox 360, in terms of launch sales that is. NPD spokesman stated: "figures show that the PS3 is selling slightly faster in the US than the Xbox 360 did at the same stage in its release."

Straight from the man's mouth. Now, although it's much too early to say whether the PS3 will follow its predecessor's footsteps or not, we can certainly have more faith in it from now on, having launched beautifully in Europe and Australia. How could Sony miss when they gave out free 46-inch HD television sets and a taxi ride, to make sure console buyers get home safely with their precious $600 machines? Now, I know what you're going to say: "Europe is one thing, America is another."Yes, but put together it spells "good news for Sony."

And to make Sony's day, analysts also say that current UK figures show the Nintendo Wii is outselling all other consoles at the moment. One of them even believes that Sony can become number one if it releases the right games, as digital spy says: "The real issue for Sony is whether they can get back the momentum they had with PS2. The only thing that is going to drive that is the number of titles available," said Gartner principal analyst Paul O'Donovan.

Really now, do we need experts to tell us that? Of course games represent what sells a console. I mean, why do you buy a console in the first place anyway, to make crispier fries? No, to play the latest games built with the latest engines from the best of developers. And yes, it is what Sony should be focusing on at the moment.
