On Friday, October 21, The Boeing Company delivered the 12th modified C-40A aircraft to the United States Navy. These airplanes are now able to carry both troops and cargo, depending on the missions they are assigned to.

This particular aircraft was officially handed over the its new owners during a ceremony in Wichita, before it flew off to join its new squadron at the Naval Air Station North Island, in San Diego. The airplane is a derivative of the renowned Boeing 737-700 platform.

“The C-40A combines Boeing Commercial Airplanes' best-selling 737 with Boeing Defense, Space & Security's modification expertise,”Boeing Global Transport & Executive Systems general manager Steve Wade said at the ceremony.

“This aircraft increases the Navy's capability for rapid response worldwide, and we're looking forward to continuing to enhance the fleet with as many aircraft as the Navy requires,” he added.
