They are actively interested in the Internet activities of UFO researchers

The X-Files are a science fiction television series that deepened the already spreading mistrust of governments, interest in conspiracy theories and spirituality, and the belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life.

A well respected author, Gus Russo, published the results of an investigation that may sound like the real X-Files. The result, a story called The Real X-Files: Is Uncle Sam a Closet UFOlogist? proves that the U.S. Government Intelligence Community are actively involved with UFO researchers and pay a special interest to their Internet activities.

Russo is a well established reporter, writer and producer for over one dozen US major network television documentaries, including PBS and ABC News and wrote four books, probably the most known being Live By The Sword: The Secret War against Castro and the Death of JFK.

So his investigative techniques and accuracy can't be so easily discredited, as Pulitzer-Prize winning writer Seymour Hersh confirms: "Gus Russo is as skilled at researching the facts as anyone I know - brilliant."

Russo says that "... there is certainly a very small percentage government officials with intelligence clearance -- some active, some retired -- who are interested in the UFO research community, if not UFOs themselves. Some of these men are of the impression, rightly or wrongly, that a very few individuals in government and the private sector are keeping the big secret even from them."

He has not released names of people involved in this story, but he had some really trustworthy sources, like former CIA DS&T analyst Dr. Ron Pandolfi, Dr. Christopher Kit Green, a forensic scientist recently featured for his past work with the CIA on the PBS series "Secrets of the Dead," and Dr. Paul Murad of the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).

Starstream Research is a company providing intelligence and analysis on futuristic national and international defense, security and risk developments and featured Russo's article on their website. The company's founder, Gary S. Bekkum said that: "No one has actually confirmed the existence of an alien invasion, but (government) sources suggest high ranking figures in the intelligence community, including former Directors of Central Intelligence, have discussed this issue, at least in private."
