The fish can once again spawn in some of their favorite spots

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently made it public news that, as a result of bringing down the Elwha river dam, fish that were previously forced to breed in other regions are now returning to their natural habitats.

Work on this restoration project began just last year, but it seems that it did not take long for the fish to realize that one of their favorite spawning places was no longer off limits.

Thus, nearly 60 steelheads and 600 salmon already made their way upstream of the former dam site.

Although it seems that the fish can very well fend for themselves, researchers are still carefully monitoring them to make sure that all potential problems are dealt with in due time.
