Mobile phone carrier US Cellular has just made a new Android-based smartphone available for purchase on its airwaves, namely the Motorola ELECTRIFY, and it seems that it might put another one up for sale in the near future, namely the HTC Hero S.

The smartphone was already spotted into the wild before, under the name of HTC Kingdom, and was rumored to be on its way to shelves in the US both via this wireless carrier, as well as via other operators, such as Sprint or Alltel.

The HTC Hero S for US Cellular is unofficial at the moment, yet it seems that this might change in the near future, as the handset has just made an appearance into the wild in a leaked press photo next to the aforementioned Motorola ELECTRIFY.

No new info on the specification list of the upcoming mobile phone has been released for the time being, or on its release date or pricing, but more should be unveiled soon, it seems.

In the meantime, we should note that the HTC Hero S is expected to land on US Cellular's airwaves with a 1.2GHz application processor packed inside, a single-core Snapdragon, it seems.

Moreover, it sill include a large 4-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a qHD resolution, as well as a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording.

The new mobile phone is also rumored to pack a VGA camera on the front, which should prove suitable for making video calls while on the go.

The HTC Hero S is also expected to include the usual series of connectivity options in Android devices, such as 3G, WiFi, or Bluetooth, along with GPS receiver and a microSD memory card slot for expanding the available internal memory by up to 32GB.

The smartphone should be powered by the latest flavor of Android Gingerbread, and will also provide users with fast access to applications and services.
