Verizon Wireless was the first US-based carrier that started the rollout of the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2, but now it looks like other operators are doing the same thing.

Next on the list of network operators in the United States that are now offering the KitKat update for Galaxy Note 2 is US Cellular. The carrier has already posted the official changelog on its support site and confirmed that users could download and install it on their Galaxy Note 2 phablets.

According to US Cellular, software update R950VXUCNE2 is pushed OTA (over the air) to all Galaxy Note 2 devices purchased through its official retail channels, but users can also download it via Samsung Kies desktop software.

Those who have yet to be notified on the update should manually check for it by going to Settings / About device / Software update. If it's not available yet, you should try again a bit later.

Aside from bringing the phone's software to version Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the update also adds some new features and improvements, as well as lots of bug fixes.

For example, the KitKat update will add Galaxy Note 2 devices a brand new phone application, which automatically prioritizes user's contacts based on the people they talk to the most.

With this phone application, users will be able to search for nearby places and businesses, their contacts, or people in their Google Apps domain.

But this is not all. Lots of camera improvements have been added as well, such as the enhanced “touch to focus” option that looks like a circular now. On-screen controls that can be dragged by finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo's focus and exposure have also been included.

The KitKat update also adds the new Hangouts application, which allows users to choose their default messaging application for SMS and MMS messages.

It's also worth mentioning that the new Android 4.4 KitKat interface automatically hides everything except what the user really needs to see. Simply swipe the edge of the screen to bring back the status bar and navigation buttons.

The update also brings faster multitasking, so switching from app to app is easier than ever thanks to memory optimization and faster touchscreen response time.

In addition, users will now be able to listen to music while browsing the web or race down the highway with the latest hit game, all without a hitch.

Last but not least, Galaxy Note 2 owners will be pleased to know the KitKat update brings wireless printing capabilities, so they will be able to print photos, documents and webpages directly from the phablet.
