The United States Army Knowledge Online website (us.army.mil) has been down for the past four hours. Hacktivists have taken credit for the downtime.

The ones who first made the “tangodown” announcement were the members of DerpTrolling. DerpTrolling is the notorious group that has disrupted several major gaming servers over the past period, including the ones of Steam, Battle.net, Origin and League of Legends.

“All Hail Gaben! http://www.us.army.mil #PraiseGaben We will show the infidels the way back to hell! Lord Cage welcomes you,” the hackers wrote on Twitter.

Gaben is the nickname of Gabe Newell, the co-founder and managing director of Valve. Considering that they have the fire power, it's highly plausible that DerpTrolling is responsible for the downtime.

It’s worth noting that the official page of the US Army, army.mil, appears to be working properly. At the time of writing, us.army.mil is still inaccessible.
