The European Nexus One might have multi-touch

Search engine-based company Google unveiled earlier this week the Android-based Nexus One by HTC phone, which will be sold around the world via its web store, and also announced that a series of carriers in various markets would have the device on their airwaves. Vodafone was nominated as the operator to carry the Nexus One in the UK, yet it seems that other carriers also plan on launching the phone, including T-Mobile and 3.

While rumors regarding the possibility that the phone will come to them already hit the web, now all is confirmed. “We can confirm that we are in talks with Google on the Nexus One,” a spokesman for 3 stated recently, according to paidContent:UK. “We are in talks with Google and hope to have something to announce soon,” a T-Mobile spokesman added, cited by Total Telecom.

There are no details at the moment on whether the Nexus One will also be subsidized by the carriers, just like T-Mobile USA does, nor whether Vodafone will do so or not, but it is still good news to learn that UK users will have a wider range of choices with the phone. However, Orange and O2, other major carriers in the country, haven't unveiled any details on their intentions regarding the Nexus One.

As many of you know already, the Nexus One is being sold via Google's own website, a quite interesting marketing approach. Since this is the only manner in which users can purchase the device, carriers can only hope that users will be attracted to it and will bring it into the country. “It’s a great Internet phone and we expect plenty of people to import it to the UK. Our £15 SIMs are ready and waiting,” David Kerrigan, head of Internet services at 3, stated in an email to moconews.

In related news, we learn that Nexus One might come to Europe with a series of features that are unavailable for US users. According to Engadget, the European version of the phone will boast multi-touch capabilities, just like Motorola MILESTONE, the Euro variant of Motorola DROID, does. However, Google says that there will be no difference between various iterations of the handset.
