Modern Warfare 2 is still doing very well

The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publisher Association has published last week's game sales charts. Red Dead Redemption is keeping its powerful hold on the first position for the third week in a row, making it the most successful release of the year, at least until the autumn. The approach of the World Cup has helped EA Sports' 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa climb up to number two and move UFC 2010: Undisputed down to number three.

Just Dance and Wii Fit Plus have also kept their positions on four and five, respectively, keeping Ubisoft and Nintendo's casual-game divisions rich and happy. Only two releases entered the chart this week. The expansion to The Sims 3, Ambitions, has debuted at an honorable number six and Nintendo's Rooms: The Main Building has debuted at a less honorable number 12.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still selling very well, maintaining the seventh spot in the list, more than seven months after its launch. The most spectacular fall this week has been registered by Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, which went down from number six to number 14. Blur has overtaken Split/Second this week, with Disney's arcade racer falling to the 13th spot and Activision's power-up car game rising to number ten, after an unhappy debut last week.

The Xbox 360 exclusive, Alan Wake, is continuing its downfall, dropping another three places to number 18. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is also on the decline, going down five places to number 16, but the five millions sales it has gathered until now are nothing to be ashamed of. Lost Planet is doing surprisingly well, given the not-so-rave reviews, maintaining its number-nine spot. Next week will see the release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Green Day: Rock Band, so the Red Dead domination may see its end.
