The 50-inch models may become particularly affordable

Ultra-high definition television sets started out with prices in the hundreds of thousands, but it hasn't even been a year and already they've fallen below $1,000 / €1,000.

The other day, I wrote about what was supposedly the only truly cheap 4K UHD TV on the market.

Now, I find out that there are high odds for TV vendors to cut the tags of 50-inch UHD TVs to CNY $5000, or US$800 / €800. In China at least.

I can only imagine what tags the 39-inch models will end up with.

Obviously, the products won't have many, if any, features of Smart TVs. Not that it's a shock.

It's worth pointing out that driving the prices to the mark I have mentioned is basically a 20% price fall in just a few months (the report says the level will be reached by October 1).
