Those who thought 4K would be a flop will be disappointed

Back in 2011, many people believed that 3D would be a fad that would quickly lose steam, but that proved false once movie studios adopted the concept.

Now, 3D has been replaced by 4K UHD TVs as the latest new thing on the display industry.

Obviously, there are naysayers again. After all, how successful can 4K TVs be when even Full HD hasn't exactly been surpassed yet?

As it turns out, the response to that question could be “successful enough.”

While it is true that TVs with 3840 x 2160 pixels resolutions aren't likely to sell too massively, some still believe they will finish the year (2013) with 3.5-4 million units.

Previously, analysts and supply chain sources only estimated 2.3-2.6 million. It goes to show how quickly tides can turn.
