On the heels of releasing Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010, Microsoft has also made a solution accelerator available for download, a resource designed to streamline the adoption and implementation of the gateway security solution. Corporate customers looking to embrace the evolution of the Intelligent Application Gateway can now access free guidance from the Redmond company via the Infrastructure Planning and Design Guide for Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway. As is the case for additional solution accelerator, Forefront Unified Access Gateway guide is a product of the Solution Accelerator team.

“This free guide outlines the critical infrastructure design elements that are key to the successful implementation of Forefront Unified Access Gateway (Forefront UAG). The logical three-step process presented in this guide includes selecting the Forefront UAG features required, determining the number of instances, and designing the infrastructure. If access logging is required, the guide leads the reader through selecting and designing the most appropriate data store. Use this guide to shorten your Forefront UAG infrastructure planning and deployment time,” revealed a member of the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit team.

Deploying UAG 2010 is a complex process, and customers need to ensure that they get fundamental decisions and actions right from the get go. What the guide is meant to do is provide insight into the steps that need to be taken when planning a Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 (Forefront UAG) infrastructure. At this point in time, Microsoft is even offering a free evaluation edition of UAG 2010 which can be used for testing.

The guide will help customers with: “Identifying the access functionality that will be provided by Forefront UAG. Deciding how many instances of Forefront UAG will be required in order to meet the business requirements. Designing the infrastructure needed for each instance of Forefront UAG,” Microsoft stated.
