If you like U2 and The Tonight Show, then we have some potentially good news for you. Days after it was announced that Metallica would be spending five days playing on The Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson, it's now emerged that U2 plan to do the same thing except on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Last month, the Foo Fighters spent an entire week playing in the background for The Late Show with David Letterman, so it was now necessary for The Tonight Show to get its game together and book its own. They found it in the shape of Irish rock band U2.

On Monday night, Jimmy Fallon announced enthusiastically that “U2 is coming back Monday, November 17, for an entire week.” That happens to be exactly the same time slot that Metallica will be performing on the Late Show. But don't worry, you'll still be able to watch both, as the shows don't air at the same time.

The link between U2 and Jimmy Fallon was made clear right from the start of the new Tonight Show on February 17, when the band played their charity single “Invisible” at the end of the talk show. They also performed a new version of “Ordinary Love” with The Roots.

Stereogum notes that it's become quite fashionable to have big bands appear as house band on talk show and networks are scrambling to book the biggest names for their own productions.
