As expected, U.S. Cellular has just announced the immediate availability of its first 4G LTE device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Customers can purchase the tablet starting today for only $399.99 (300 EUR) after a $100 (75 EUR) mail-in rebate. However, this is a time-limited offer, though the carrier did not unveil exactly when it ends.

U.S. Cellular also states that the tablet will only be available in markets that are now covered by 4G LTE network, as well as in those scheduled to be covered by the end of the year.

Currently, U.S. Cellular offers 4G LTE service in select cities in Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

More locations will be added in the second half of the year, including select cities in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

After the promo period, U.S. Cellular will offer the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for $499.99 (380 EUR) after a $100 (75 EUR) mail-in rebate. The slate is available both in store locations and online.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is shipped with Android 3.2 Honeycomb out of the box, but the slate has already been scheduled for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime this year.

The tablet sports a large 10.1-inch WXGA PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

It’s powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and packs 1GB of memory and 32GB of internal memory.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the first of many cutting-edge devices slated for use on the 4G LTE network. This sleek and functional tablet makes it easier than ever for busy customers to simplify and organize their lives,” said Edward Perez, vice president of sales and marketing operations for U.S. Cellular.
