Samsung USA and U.S. Cellular have just announced the availability of the Samsung Chrono feature phone for only $0.01 with a new two-year agreement or $19.99 on prepay.

Bearing a simple flip-form factor, the Chrono is aimed at people who are looking for a basic phone to help them stay connected with their friends and families.

Samsung Chrono is designed for seniors who prefer cheap and basic phones with generous keypads and large buttons and is only available in dark grey.

Furthermore, the phone is equipped with Bluetooth wireless capabilities that allow users to quickly pair other Bluetooth-enabled devices while on the go.

However, while the phone may be easy to operate, it also offers features like web browsing and email, as well as calendar appointments.

In addition, users can personalize the Chrono by using its easyedge services to download their favorite ringtones, wallpapers, games and business applications.

Numerous Java compatible games and apps that have been previously tested can be installed on the Samsung Chrono, including: Crystal Defenders, Final Fantasy, Game of LIFE, Medal of Honor, Ms. PAC-MAN, Animated Wallpaper Galaxy, Wallpaper JukeBox, City ID, AccuWeather and more.

Specs-wise, Chrono is not that impressive, on the contrary it only offers the basic features of a mobile phone.

Samsung Chrono comes with a sub-par VGA camera, as well as 51MB of internal memory that can be used to store pictures, contacts, text messages and others.

The clamshell measures 94 x 46 x 17mm and weighs around 90g (battery included). The phone has a 2-inch QVGA internal display that supports 262K colors, as well as a secondary 1.7-inch CSTN display.

The Chrono is powered by a standard 800 Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 22 days of standby time.
