Tyrese Gibson has the body of a god and a career most would envy. In a recent interview with AllHipHop to promote his documentary, the model, singer and actor talked about how fat people should just own up to what they did to their body and start shedding the weight.

His comments on the topic are just now getting more attention in the blogosphere, with many saying that he should at least feign diplomacy on such a sensitive issue.

Of course, there are also those who say that this kind of straightforwardness is just what we need: we all need to stop beating around the bush and face our problems so that we may deal with them accordingly.

This is precisely what Tyrese also recommends.

Asked if he feels any kind of responsibility to “inspire people to live healthier lifestyles,” Tyrese says true inspiration has to come from within and not from someone else.

“No two situations are the same. If you are fat and nasty and you don’t like the way you look, do something about it. It’s simple,” he explains.

“When you take a shower and you put your fat, nasty body in the shower and by the time you get out, the mirrors are all steamed up so you don’t look at what you did to yourself. That may sound offensive or insensitive but ultimately, you are big as hell because you have earned that [expletive],” he continues.

Until we realize we have a problem, we can’t possibly come to a solution for it.

“You worked your [backside] off to eat everything in sight to get big as hell. If you got a problem with the way you look, then you need to do something about it. Excuses sound best to the people that’s making them up,” he says.

Right now, his comments are cause for debate on many online forums, with the scales not favoring any side. What do you think, should Tyrese have sugar-coated his comments or is his honesty the wakeup call we need?
