Driveclub, the upcoming racing game for the PS4, has just received one brand new gameplay video that shows the dynamic weather system in action and how it will affect the actual races.

Driveclub is set to debut this October after almost a year-long delay. The title was initially scheduled to launch right alongside the PS4 last year in November but, due to the desire of developer Evolution Studios, it was pushed back for extra polishing and to ensure that the new title delivered what it promised.

Now, in order to make the wait until October more bearable, the studio has just revealed a short video that depicts the dynamic weather system in the new racing title.

According to Evolution's Alex Perkins, who talked with PS blog, the weather system will be a fun mechanic that's not meant to provoke any negative reactions from players.

"We’ve approached our weather system with the same guiding principles as we’ve done with everything in Driveclub, to make it as immersive and fun as possible. We’ve developed a powerful engine that has the capability to model the entire environment in stunning detail; from each cloud that makes up our living skies, to every crest and fall in the tarmac beneath your wheels."

According to Perkins, his team wanted to make just authentic lighting and sky models for the different environments in Driveclub, but the ambitious idea ultimately evolved into a full-fledged weather system that's influenced by all sorts of different things.

"The cloud cover and conditions you choose will dictate how much snow and rain will fall. The wind direction and speed determines where snow will settle. Then when it stops, the temperature and height of the sun governs how quickly clouds evaporate and roads dry out. We’re really striving for consistency in every detail just like we have done with everything else in the game."

As you can see in the video, the new mechanic promises to make the same races feel like wildly different experiences and will bring forth new challenges for experienced players.

In the actual gameplay footage below, two different races that take place in Canada are portrayed and they show how the rainy weather in the mountainous environment can affect the handling of the car or player visibility.

Driveclub is set to debut this October exclusively for the PlayStation 4 platform from Sony. Expect to see and hear much more about the racing experience until then.
