Will focus strongly on developers

As any startup would tell you, you know you've made it when you get your very own conference. That's probably not true, but it works for Twitter which has spilled the beans in its first ever conference, aptly named Chirp, which will take place in April. It promises to be an interesting event, with a focus on developers, that doesn't surprise anyone, and probably some interesting announcements from all the Twitter folk speaking at the conference all sprinkled with a little lightheartedness, just how Twitter likes it.

The conference was first announced last month, but now the website is up and a lot more details have been released. "We've done our very best to bring you the speakers you want. You'll learn from the experts that keep Twitter's heart beating. We'll also be bringing you the very best and most successful Twitter Developers in the world! You won't be dissapointed!," the quirky yet surprisingly thorough website reads.

On day 1, all the important people at Twitter, not that there are any unimportant ones, will speak, Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone, COO Dick Costolo and platform lead Ryan Sarver, probably boasting all their achievements, rightfully so, maybe detail some of their goals, i.e. reaching one billion users, that type of thing, and finally, maybe even slip in a new feature or two. Actually, there's no need for speculation, the Chirp websites lists the main talking points: OAuth, streaming, geolocation, business strategies, mobile integration, and the product roadmap.

Day 2 is dedicated to the developers and will hold a 24-Hour Hack Day. "At the Chirp 24 Hour Hack Day you'll be hacking away alongside Twitter’s top Developers. You'll be able to share your ideas and get tips from the best in the industry. There will also be workshops where you learn about key techniques. It's going to be a blast," the site also says. Tickets prices are a bit on the steep-side, as social networking conferences go, but at $469 per head, they're probably not going to break anybody's wallet. Only 800 tickets will be available so it is a rather exclusive event. The first 100 are up for sale but, and this is interesting, you'll have to use the Twitter API to get your hands on one, specifically, you'll have to find the username of user id 6253282.
