Twitter has become a huge phenomenon over the past couple of years, and even if this micro-blogging platform is not really as famous as Facebook (with whom is often intertwined), it does have it charm, strong enough to even convince certain accessories manufacturers to come up with all sorts of Twitter-centric PC accessories.

And one of the most interesting such items we've come across lately is the Twimal, the handy work of Japanese toy manufacturer Takara Tomy, an USB-powered gadget that quite a lot of users (especially from Japan) will most likely find to be quite a funny accessory for their computer.

The main function of the Twimal device is to actually read out loud one's tweets or, better said, all of the tweets popping up within their list.

And even if this feature might not really sound particularly exciting at a first sight, some might actually find it interesting, although it's use is restricted just to Japan, for the time being (given the fact that these things will only read out tweets in Japanese).

The Twimal has somewhat of a “cute” external look (sort of rounder, Manga-ish type of cute) and is actually available in two versions, one that reads the tweets in a male voice (the blue model) and one that reads them in a female voice (the orange version).

As mentioned before, installing this thing shouldn't prove to be much of a challenge, since one only needs to connect them to an USB port and install the associated software application.

The Takara Tomy Twimal “talking USB Twitter avatars” (as I like to call them) will go on sale across Japan on the last day of March, selling for around 2,480 Japanese Yen (or roughly 30 US dollars), which is a fairly OK price to pay for this thing, all things considered.
