On April 16, 2010, the brand new, reinvented “Nightmare on Elm Street,” bringing back the dreaded dream killer Freddy Krueger, is coming to the big screen. Alongside Jackie Earle Haley as Krueger, the reboot will also bring to fans a “Twilight” star in the person of Kellan Lutz, granted negotiations go as scheduled, as Yahoo! News can confirm.

Lutz, who is currently working on the highly mediated sequel to “Twilight,” “New Moon,” which sees him reprising his role as the vampire Emmett Cullen, will presumably star in the upcoming horror film as the high school jock, the same media outlet informs. Other two young and upcoming stars have already been cast in “Nightmare,” Thomas Dekker and Rooney Mara. Negotiations with Lutz are currently underway, presumably with the purpose of settling any possible schedule conflicts.

“Like lambs to the slaughter, ‘Twilight’ actor Kellan Lutz, ‘Terminator’ TV show star Thomas Dekker and Rooney Mara have joined the cast of the reimagined version of 1984 horror movie ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’ Lutz, who is in negotiations, would play a popular school jock. Dekker will play an alpha male trying to get back together with his girlfriend. Mara plays a girl who can’t wait to leave town after graduation. Those young dreams will prove to be dust as the duo join Kyle Gallner, in the role played by Johnny Depp in the original movie, as fodder for slasher Freddy Krueger, being played by Jackie Early Haley.” Yahoo! says of the three young stars’ participation in the new version of the horror film.

Although initially Platinum Dunes reported certain issues with the “Nightmare on Elm Street” reboot, things seem to have worked out just fine, and a release date has already been set. Production is yet to begin, but, with the cast coming along nicely, it is presumed it won’t take long until the film is taken to the next stage, which means fans will be hearing more details on it pretty soon.

In the meanwhile, Lutz fans will see him in “New Moon,” scheduled to be released earlier in November 2009. Filming on the sequel is now underway in Vancouver, where the entire original “Twilight” cast, plus several brand new additions, have already gathered – much to the excitement of fans, one might as well add.
