14 DAY TRIAL // Tapbots have released an iPad client for Tweetbot fans and they’ve also updated the iPhone app with a new timeline view, image thumbnails, single-tappable colored links, and more.
A full-featured Twitter client “with a lot of personality,” Tweetbot features a nicely crafted interface, sounds, animation, and extra features such as multiple timelines and smart gestures.
The developers say “Tweetbot for the iPad is everything you love about the iPhone app and more!” And they offer a few brief highlights, such as the ability to have multiple timelines, allowing you to switch between your lists as your main timeline.
You get configurable gestures, so you can use Twitter more efficiently, and native Push Notifications, so you never miss a tweet.
The navigation is customizable - you can hide the navigation tabs that you never use, for example. And you get support for multiple services like Read It Later, Instapaper, and Cloudapp URL Shortening.
Finally, you can save drafts, add locations and POI's, attach photos/videos, and manage your lists, all from the iPad.
On the iPhone side, everything just got better. Users who update to version 2.0 will get: image thumbnails in timeline, colored and single-tappable links, an integrated and tappable "Retweeted by" bar, new cell colors for better contrast, a new direct message view, and a redesigned "New Tweets" bar which users can now dismiss.
Other new features and improvements include:
- Timed auto-refresh (timeline, mentions, and DM's will refresh every 5 minutes) - Readability added as mobilizer service - Much improved tweet replies view - Links in user's bio now tappable - "Huge" font size option in Settings > Display - Improved scrolling performance
The original Tweetbot is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.1 or later. The iPad-native version only works with the tablet PC and requires iOS 5.0.
