With some help from the Redrock line of accessories

It would seem that, with the arrival of the Nikon D90 and the Canon 5D Mark II, the world's most important manufacturers of Digital Single-Lens Reflex cameras have ushered in the age of high-end digital cameras that can also shoot high-definition videos. However, while having their merits, the videos shot with DSLRs are not exactly "motion picture" material, and thus are not yet adopted by filmmakers (even amateur ones).

For this reason, the Redrock company has just announced the imminent launch of a series of accessories that will be able to turn just about any video-capable DSLR into a production-ready cinema solution.

The bundle includes a 15mm support system, follow focus for accurate and repeatable focusing, swing-away mattebox for light management and easy access to changing lenses, shoulder mount and handgrips for steady handheld use as well as a support cage for enhanced stability and low angle shot.

The main advantages provided by this system are mostly related to its level of versatility, since its modular design will allow users to add extra components as they require them. Plus, by using the industry-standard 15 mm rods, the bundle ensures both camera stability and compatibility with other products as well.

The company offers two different bundle configurations. The first is the Standard Bundle, which includes the machined aluminum baseplate, 15mm lightweight rod configuration, quick release camera system and dovetail, 2x 12-inch, 15mm stainless steel rods and a shim kit (for vertical height adjustment of rods). Then, there's the DSLR cage & top handle bundle, which includes 2x 12-inch stainless steel, 15mm rods, 2x 9-inch, stainless steel 15mm rods and a microHandle with adjustable angle rotation attachment.

No pricing details have been provided for the time being, but we're likely to find out the pricing of the bundle on the 28th of October, when it will become officially available.
