Remember news of Sony prepping to launch the Deep Red PSP Model (PSPJ-20000)? Well if you don't, that's alright, but know that they did. Now, Wrapstar is one of those skin manufacturers that offer face-lifts for handhelds like Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP. According to a recent official report, the latter is already making the "Deep Red PSP Skin" as a bargain bin, while Sony's featured Deep Red PSP launches December 13th for 22,800 yen (~$198), exclusively in Japan.

Wrapstar says you'll be saving more than a hundred bucks on this deal, but what they don't say is that you need to actually own a PSP in order to benefit from all this cheap redness. The respective skin is indeed a bargain - just ?4.99 ( a tad over 10 US Dollars). Check it out to the upper left side of the article (click to enlarge). Also, there are no shipping fees since Wrapstar's products are purchased online in the UK and Europe. Yes, apparently the deep red PSP is making its debut in PAL territories too, but only as a skin.

More than that, the new red PSP Sony is prepping to roll out in Japan is the Slim/Lite model, featuring red everything (buttons, the round metal stripe on the back), and of course the PSP logo too, while Wrapstar's kind of DOESN'T! Yes but the skins are wear, tear and fade resistant so no matter how many hours you rack up on the handheld, it will always remain sleek and fresh.

Just last month, Wrapstar launched the Brushed Silver DS Lite skins, which had quite a success. The company's Managing Director, Max Haddow, is confident that the Deep Red PSP skins are most likely going to imitate that success: "The brushed silver skins proved to be very popular with gamers so hopefully consumers will react in the same way to our new red skins. It's the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to replicate the look of Japan's exclusive deep red PSP, particularly if you're sick to death of your old console and want to give it a fresh new appearance."

Convinced it's a good deal? If so, then head over to Amazon or GAME and purchase it right now. Remember, it's just ?4.99. It doesn't really save gamers 90 Pounds (as the report implies), since PSP owners won't rush to get the new Deep Red PSP when it's released - after all, they own one already...
