Rugged tablets aren’t something that most of us would have a use for, but this sort of devices do exist and Trimble’s Yuma is one of them.

The 7-inch slate, which comes in a rugged case at least the size of a 10-inch tablet, is running the Windows 7 operating system and is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor.

This is paired together with all the usual features such as GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and dual cameras with geo tag support, but also with an SSD that can deliver up to 80GB of storage space.

Of course, this can be expanded through the use of the included SD memory slot, or by attaching an USB Flash drive to the tablet.

But the Yuma is much more than a total of its specs, as its most important strength lies in its ruggedness which was tested to comply with the United States Military Standard for durability, according to Geeky Gadgets.

Sadly, no info regarding pricing and availability was provided, but these should be revealed soon enough.
