Trading card games are becoming more and more popular in the gaming community and it was just a matter of time before an ambitious indie team would tackle this genre.

After the colorful puzzle board game Astroslugs and the classic card game San Juan for iOS, the Bit Barons team started to work on their most ambitious project, Tridek: Creatures of Galena.

We've had a chance to try out an early version of the game and check out some of its upcoming features. Tridek: Creatures of Galena is a Digital Trading Card (DTC) game that aims to revolutionize the genre by offering true cross-platform multiplayer matches anywhere you are.

If you are playing either on your PC or Mac, you can always pause your game and grab your tablet or Android device to continue from where you left off while you’re on the go.

The best part is that you’ll never feel the difference, because Tridek is optimized for mobile devices and makes no compromises when it comes to gameplay experience.

The major gameplay innovation that Tridek promises to deliver is a new resource system that adds momentum and depth to the game and makes you plan your future moves carefully.

Each card has a resource cost that basically removes the "luck factor," so you have to develop a winning strategy with a more tactical approach.

The resources used are some type of rare crystals that come in three colors: red, green and blue. When playing any card from your deck, you will lose one type of resource and gain another, thus making your actions weigh more in future turns.

To get new cards and improve your deck, you can play the campaign and gain the required "shards" (in-game currency) to buy booster sets.

These sets will offer eight different cards with at least one rare or super rare card. If you want to skip the campaign and go straight for the multiplayer with a complete deck, you will be able to buy shard supply packs with real money and expand your deck right away.

The online mode comes with unranked matches like quick match and challenge mode. For the more competitive players, Tridek has a ranked league and tournament mode that will offer various prizes.

Being a TDC, the game will also feature some kind of card-trading possibility either through an auction house or other methods, which are still discussed by the developers.

Tridek: Creatures of Galena will be released completely free on mobile devices first, followed by a PC and Mac version that will feature over 100 unique trading cards to build your own customized decks.

If you want to help the developers, you can support the ongoing Kickstarter campaign that offers all sorts of bonuses for all its backers.
