Without a doubt, speaker systems able to take the audiophile ear to some new heights don't really come cheap, and that's also the case with the Trenner & Friedl Duke Speakers, which we'll talk about as follows, who do not only manage to enchant one's eyes, but also their ears, while in the same time emptying their bank accounts. The Duke speaker system sports a very elegant cabinet, designed in golden ratio and using only natural materials, such as Bamboo, plywood, fine leather, fully symmetric constructions to eliminate tumbling of the membranes and employing a hand felted pure sheep wool for dampening.

The speaker system also sports 12-inch woofers made from paper honeycomp cones, 8-inch midrange drivers from papyrus cone and an AlNiCo magnet system, a 1.75-inch tweeter with high efficiency compression driver, nitride titanium dome, CNC machined aluminium tractrix horn, and, finally, a 0.8-inch super-tweeter, sporting an ultra rigid diamond diaphragm, 360-degree dispersion and Swarovsky crystal disperser in golden ratio shape.

All of the aforementioned components combine in order to deliver a Frequency Response of 22 Hz to 80,000 Hz (f-3dB), a sensitivity level of 92 dB (2,83 V/1 m) and an impedance of 8 Ohms.

However, the company does reveal that 4x monaural amplifiers or 2 stereo amplifiers are required for the Duke speakers to work their magic.

Last, but certainly not least, it's also a good idea to point out that these speakers will take quite a bit of space around any household, given the fact that they measure 1500 mm x 500 mm x 850 mm and weigh a whopping 129 kg.

As mentioned right from the start, the Duke Speakers from Trenner & Friedl target not only an audiophile audience, but also a wealthy one, given the fact that they sell for around 130,000 Euro a pop (around $176,760).
