All you enterprise representatives out there, get a load of this! Trend Micro just released InterScan Web Security Appliance that will extend protection from insidious Web attacks! Well, what is it? What does it do? To answer briefly, this software offers threat protection to business customers, being a great solution for protecting the network from incoming attacks such as viruses, spyware, malicious websites as well as inappropriate content.

Further more, this software comes in two versions, the standard one and the advanced one. The second version provides customers with fully integrated, policy-based URL filtering and Applet as well as ActiveX security. Also, the advanced version starts at about $23.000 for up to 1.000 users. If that doesn't sound well, then what does?

How does it actually work? Well, it's not too hard to use (for IT managers, I mean) since it offers a ?how do they call it?... "plug-and-protect" approach to securing the web gateway. All the traffic is analyzed and this appliance will act like a strong link in the firm's security chain. Also, administrators will have access to a certain console that they can use to limit or grant Internet access so that all users will be given the proper privileges. Of course, this application works great with Trend Micro Control Manager, which is a sort of central management unit that can monitor and control other security software from Trend Micro.

Another great thing about this product is the fact that it integrates with Trend Micro's Damage Cleanup Services. This solution will automatically repair and restore endpoints when outbound malware events are detected at the web gateway. Now, this will solve some serious issues that IT managers had with laptops and other mobile devices that would get infected outside of the network, bringing the threat "inside" when reconnecting.
