After receiving a decent amount of positive feedback for its previous tablet models, TrekStore raises the bar a little and launches two new slates, called the SurfTAB Xiron 10.1 and 7HD.

Right off the bat, the classy design with aluminum back draws attention to the new products. Both come equipped with a capacitive multi-touch IPS display and 1280 x 800 pixel resolution (could have been better).

The larger of the bunch, the Xiron 10.1, bundles under the bonnet a Cortex A9 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz combined with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Xiron 7.0 HD, on the other hand, has a Cortex A7 quad-core CPU working at 1GHz with a slightly lower 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (via Notebook Italia).

Both models run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with no mention of an update to Android 4.4. KitKat being in the cards.

Other functionalities included in both tablets are microUSB, microHDMI, Bluetooth. The smaller Xiron has dual cameras (2MP on the back and 0.3MP in front), while the 10-incher is slightly better equipped in this department with a 5MP as main camera and a 2MP front snapper.

Ultimately, the 10-inch Xiron also supports Mircast technology for streaming multimedia files on TV screens.

The SurfTAB Xiron 10.1 will be available for a price starting at €239 / $327 while the smaller slate will sell for €139 / $190.
