Most people simply walk by fallen tree leaves without even bothering to look at them. Iranian artist Omid Asadi, however, sees them as the perfect means for him to express himself.

Long story short, this 35-year-old man, who currently lives in the UK, has for some time now been making tree leaf carvings, and I for one have to admit that I find his pieces nothing short of amazing.

According to Oddity Central, the artist carves not just random patterns or wild animals into dry leaves. On the contrary, he also makes celebrity portraits. Check out the photo gallery below to see some of his works.

The artist says that he only uses tree leaves he finds while exploring one street or another and that he employs a special cutting technique in order to create his carvings.

Commenting on his decision to use fallen tree leaves to make art, Omid Asadi said, “I started to think why nobody paid attention to these beautiful leaves and trod on them, because of their name – if they were called flowers we wouldn’t tread on them at all!”

Furthermore, “Art for me is the way of looking differently to this world and around myself. I wanted to give the leaves another life and make art from them.”
