Ever so often we happen to come across certain product concepts that are so revolutionary but, in the same time, so cool, that we really wish someone will actually put them to work, and that's exactly the case with the Transparent TV design, the creation of designer Michael Friebe. According to Yanko Design, the respective design, known as Loewe Invisio, is already on the 2011 iF Concept Design shortlist, meaning that it's already received the proper recognition for its level of innovation and value.

So, practically, what the Loewe Invision concept brings forth is the idea of a HDTV who's surface doesn't simply turn black when the device is switched off, instead sporting a frameless, transparent glass surface, that practically reduces to a minimum the TV's overall aesthetic impact on a certain room.

And while many people probably don't really have such aesthetic concerns, there are others who give a lot of attention to all the specific design details of their household, and thus would greatly appreciate a product such as the Invisio.

The designed himself, Michael Friebe, has quite a few things to say about this new concept, stating that “as the first of its kind, the Loewe Invisio introduces technical innovation, combining conventional LCD and the latest TOLED display technology. This allows to create non-transparent / solid moving pictures with rich color reproduction and full contrast range from solid black to pristine white.”

Now, it remains to be seen whether the companies that can actually do something about making such a product design come true (and we're looking at you, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG, Philips, etc – order is purely random) will pick up this idea and turn it into a real-life display solution, but we certainly hope that this will be the case, and we'll be able to actually go hands-on with the first such transparent HDTVs in just a couple of years' time.
