Michael Bay may have received a lot of flak for the second “Transformers” film which was a bit too much even for his standards, but hype for the third and last installment in the franchise is so big right now that it’s getting an early release.

Initially, “The Dark of the Moon” was supposed to arrive in theaters on July 1, 2012, as the latest trailer for the film also makes it clear towards the end.

Now, the movie studio has decided to change the release date and bring “Transformers” in theaters two whole days early, MTV News reports.

It may not seem like much, but it’s a move that not many movie studios risk make. Apparently, it was prompted by the amazing reaction to the footage already shown in theaters and at various movie conventions around the country.

“Early response to footage, especially the 3-D footage, has been great so we want to get the word out that this film is as good or better than the first and much better than the last,” a source says, as cited by MTV.

“It’s the only action movie opening between June 24th and July 15th,” the spy adds. This in itself should allow “Transformers” to have record ticket sales, even in the eventuality nothing else works for it and it’s just as bad as the second.

Other sources are also saying that it could be that the move was planned from the start, in a bid to get even more publicity for the film.

“Additionally, and somewhat perplexingly, other unnamed sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the studio had always planned to move the release from Friday to Wednesday, though it remains unclear why the shift wasn’t announced until now,” MTV News says.

It’s a proven fact that movies opening on Wednesday which enjoy the support of a large fanbase fare much better than if they premiered on Friday.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” “Spider-Man 2” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” are excellent examples in this sense.
