This June, Michael Bay brings his beloved “Transformers” to the big screen again, with the fourth installment in the franchise, called “Age of Extinction.” A new poster for it has been released and, while rather on the cheesy side, it should be enough to keep us going until a new trailer arrives.

Which should happen any day now, according to buzz online.

As fans must know, “Extinction” is an expansion of the universe from the previous films and will serve as a reboot for the franchise. All the human characters from these first three films have been replaced, so it makes sense for the studio to focus on the Autobots in the promo materials, since they are fixtures.

“Extinction” stars Mark Wahlberg as the human lead (a poor mechanic who finds an Autobot by chance and sets out to making it fully functional again: the Autobot is actually, Optimus Prime), but also Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor.

Speaking with USA Today about the direction in which “Extinction” will take the Transformers franchise, Bay said that it was “set three years after the devastating Battle of Chicago from the third film. There is a new location (Texas) and cast.”

The new human characters, just like the old ones, get caught in the Transformers war by blind luck. Some might call it a misfortune actually, all things considered.
