Michael Bay & co. are now hard at work on “Transformers 3,” while keeping mum on most of the details regarding the film, plot and even name. Thanks to fans though, we have an indication of what that – the name – might be.

According to The Wrap, fansite Seibetron did some digging around and some research as well, and came up with the conclusion that the upcoming film could be called “The Dark of the Moon.”

Apparently, other names were also options considered for the third film, but producers seems to have settled for it, for the time being, it is being said.

TheWrap points out though that, if this is truly the name they’re going for, producers may get into some sort of legal trouble with Pink Floyd – unless the film is an homage to the band.

“It’s not clear if Michael Bay and Paramount intend to name check Roger Waters, but the apparent title for ‘Transformers 3’ references the group’s iconic hit,” TheWrap writes.

“Paramount did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment, but the site was able to unearth the apparent title by sifting through a series of tie-in novels that are listed on Amazon,” the report further reads.

“Among the books slated to hit shelves are ‘Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Secret of the Autobots,’ ‘Transformers: The Dark of the Moon – Autobots Betrayed!’ and ‘Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Invasion of the Decepticons’,” TheWrap says.

Clearly, all these have one thing in common, which would point that “The Dark of the Moon” will also be included in the official name of the third – and final – installment of the franchise.

Moreover, the domain name transformersthedarkofthemoonmovie.com has been also registered, says the same report, which, again could only mean that producers are going with the variant.

Entertainment Weekly says that the name doesn’t quite have the same ring as “Revenge of the Fallen” – on the contrary, it sounds a bit ridiculous – so it’s offering its readers the possibility to choose from among other options.

Those that seem to have the most potential are “Transformers: Robots In Disguise (Duh.),” “Transformers 3: The Matrix of Leadership Reloaded,” “Transformers: Money Never Sleeps,” “Transformers: The He-Man Megan-Haters Club” and what could be a classic “Transformers: Re-Revenge of the Rising Fallen Who Fell.”
