TeamViewer has announced new versions of its iPhone and iPad collaboration apps which now offer support for transferring any file between an iOS and computer, back and forth. Not only Macs, but Windows and Linux PCs are supported.

Now users can easily transfer, save and process documents, presentations and even programs, on the go, and have those files remain available when Internet access stops.

IT support and administration jobs become easier thanks to this new offering from TeamViewer as patches and upgrades can now be easily transferred to a client's PC via iPhone, and installed directly, according to the developers.

For non-business users, TeamViewer iOS offers instant access to pictures, videos or music any time and the ability to transfer them to and from the iPhone or iPad.

“While you might expect to pay a monthly fee for such a service, TeamViewer is always completely free for private users,” the developers proudly state.

As existing customers should well know, TeamViewer is a business solution that also serves non-professionals in a very intuitive manner. For those not turning up a profit using TeamViewer, the tools and services are free of charge.

To leverage the updated TeamViewer iOS apps, users will choose between a normal "remote session" or "file transfer".

A desktop TeamViewer client must already be installed on the corresponding computer and users will also want new folders created where the files are to be saved, in order to optimally organize them.

As its name implies, remote control mode allows control of the remote computer via iPhone or iPad.

"The option of transferring files from an iPhone or iPad is in very high demand by both professionals and private users," explains Holger Felgner, General Manager of TeamViewer.

"The possible uses are diverse. Whether a presentation left on the office PC is desperately needed in a meeting or files need to be transferred to a home computer, the new feature greatly simplifies many processes and makes the user more flexible and mobile,” added Felgner.

“Files no longer need to be uploaded to specific online folders, but are instead available any time." Felgner concluded.

TeamViewer is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 3.2 or later. The solution is not supported on first-generation handsets whose firmware is capped at iOS 3.1.3.
