Transcend Information, producer of flash memory cards, has announced a new 8GB SDHC (SD High-Capacity) card. The SD card is currently the most popular flash memory standard and SDHC is the next generation of SD cards (Version 2.0).

SDHC cards are formatted in FAT32 and can reach a capacity of 32GB, satisfying the large storage space need required for MP3 music files, high-resolution pictures and video clips. The SDHC cards are based on branded NAND Flash chips, ensuring higher write speeds. The mechanical write protection switch keeps data safe, preventing accidental deletion or rewriting of files.

Some of the features of the newly announced SDHC cards include: full compatibility with the SD 2.0 standard, 4GB and 8GB storage capacities, Error Correcting Code (ECC) for detection and correction of errors, support for In System Programming (ISP) to load firmware, power down and sleep modes, Mechanical Write Protection Switch, NAND Flash Chip and lifetime warranty.

Transcend's SDHC cards are thoroughly tested for compatibility and reliability before leaving the factory. The 8GB SDHC cards are fully compatible and are best used with Hi-Tech SDHC portable devices.
