Since the first days of a new year are always packed with product announcements, Transcend, of course, would not fall behind on its own releases, so it once again leveraged the hype surrounding USB 3.0.

As end-users know, the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface standard is the latest iteration of the Universal Serial Bus specification.

While there was no chipset support for it for quite a while, NEC, among others, manufactured controller chips for it.

Once motherboards could safely say they could handle the connection, storage solution developers set to work and steadily established the USB 3.0 market.

The eagerness was justified by how the standard had a theoretical maximum throughput of 5 Gbps, ten times that of USB 2.0 as it were.

Thus, there are already various flash drives, hard disk drives and other storage units equipped with it.

Now, Transcend has added to said segment by creating and formally introducing the JetFlash 700 flash drive.

Or, more accurately, the plural of the noun should be employed, as there are three distinct models, with capacities of 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB.

The major asset of the newcomers is how they can attain writing rates of up to 69 MB/s and reading speeds almost twice as high.

As for the physical aspects, Transcend implemented the ultrasonic welding technology and made the overall structure sturdy and smooth, with a streamlined appearance.

Finally, the JetFlash Elite data management tools “allow users to check their email from any compatible computer, use the JetFlash drive as a key to automatically log on to website accounts, and much more.”

The newcomers should start selling soon, for prices of 16 Euro (8 GB), 25.52 Euro (16 GB) and 70.34 Euro (32 GB), according to pre-order listings. The press release also says that more USB 3.0 products should be announced soon.
